Integrated Pharmacology

Editors: Page C, Curtis M, Sutter M, Walker M, Hoffman B

There is no doubt this is a book aimed squarely at undergraduates but if you are a GP or postgraduate wanting to freshen up on the basics of clinical pharmacology then read on.

This is simply an outstanding book, which contains an astonishing volume of material relevant to modern day clinical practice. Yes there is plenty of pharmacology and relevant physiology here, however that is its strong point. It provides much of the science behind generating a prescription and as a result there is a massive amount of clinically relevant information here. Even better, the text is very readable but the book scores highly in its visual impact. There is good use of colour and the diagrams and illustrations are of the highest order and add enormously to the impact of the text.

In short, this is a great book for the GP and other doctors interested in reading around the applied science and therapeutic aspect of their prescribing. It will also make you realise that much of the clinical pharmacology, physiology and pathophysiology that we learnt, as undergraduates is in fact quite useful in clinical practice. If you have forgotten some of these principles and want to restore some of these inevitable gaps in your knowledge then check out this excellent offering.
