Community Paediatrics

Editor: Leon Polnay

Community paediatrics is very much a growing and enlarging speciality and certainly barely got a mention in my undergraduate career. Over the years it has matured and naturally so has this book, which is now in its third edition.

Reading the preface, I was interested to discover that community paediatrics now encompasses the age range of 0-19. Just to prove the point there is a chapter on the young adult group who traditionally and awkwardly fall between paediatric and adult services. However all the usual subject are covered quite comprehensively within its 617 pages.

There is also a large number of contributors, reflecting both the multidisciplinary nature of the topic and the wide range of readers that would be interested in such a book. Even better, this book tackles subject areas such as counselling, an area not commonly found in other general paediatric texts.

This is an excellent, hands-on book which contains loads of practical information and certainly would be of interest to a number of different professionals within the primary care team.
