Cecil Textbook of Medicine - 22nd Edition

Single volume E-dition (Book and CD-ROM and website)

Editors: Lee Goldman and Dennis Ausiello

Now in the 22nd edition, this book has had a radical makeover and is much the better for it. Instead of being just bland black and white text with the odd splash of colour thrown in, this book has had a major redesign and is now in full colour and excellently illustrated. These include text boxes, figures and superb colour illustrations; this user friendliness makes it a much more readable book. The contents remain as authorative as ever, with plenty of references and even Grade A references.

The book itself is hugely detailed and comprehensive and difficult to catch out. It seemed to answer virtually all of my queries within its 2500 pages. At the beginning of this book, there are pages and pages of contributors - seemingly all American and most unusually for a clinical textbook, truly enjoyable to read and look up. It comes with a CD ROM which contains images found in the book and can be used for electronic presentations. However this copy of the book came with access to the website (the book can be purchased on its own) and this is brilliant. As long as you have Internet access you can view the contents of the entire book on line. Here are updates, clinical quiz, and an image bank and other goodies. The whole book/website package is a fabulous bundle and actually good value for money, considering what you get.
